알파벳 A부터 Z 로 시작하는 26권의 추리소설 시리즈다. 초등학교 3학년인 딩크(책을 좋아하는 주인공), 죠쉬(그림 그리기와 먹는 걸 좋아하는 친구), 루쓰 로즈(적극적이고 똑똑한 소녀, 한가지 색으로 옷을 입는 독특한 취향) 셋이서 여러가지 사건을 해결하는 탐정 소설이다.
A는 The Absent Author, B는 The Bald Bandit 이렇게 제목을 맞췄다. H는 Haunted Hotel, I는 Invisible Island, V는 Vampire's Vacation, Z는 Zombie Zone 이런 식이다. 참고로 맨 밑에 제목 리스트를 붙여 놓았다. 제목만 봐도 으스스하거나 흥미로운 것들이 많은데, 재밌는 것은 이런 제목을 저자가 시리즈를 써 가면서 어린이 독자가 보내 온 아이디어를 많이 활용했다는 것이다.
시리즈 중에 일부는 듣기 활동과 받아쓰기 Cd가 하나 더 추가로 들어 있는 것도 있다. 그래서 세트로 사면 CD가 총 26장이 아니라 41장이다. 어른인 내가 읽어도 너무 재밌는 시리즈다. 미국 도서관 대출 순위 1위라고 한다. 그래서인지 수퍼 에디션 3권이 추가로 더 출시되었다고 한다.
